The Old Pal cocktail is a classic drink that emerged during the Prohibition era in the United States. It was first introduced in the 1920s and gained popularity among the sophisticated drinkers of the time. The cocktail is a variation of the classic Negroni, but with the use of rye whiskey instead of gin, creating a bolder and spicier flavor profile. The Old Pal is traditionally made with equal parts rye whiskey, dry vermouth, and Campari, and is often garnished with a lemon twist. Despite its origins in a time of restrictions, the Old Pal cocktail continues to be enjoyed today as a testament to the enduring appeal of well-crafted libations. Make one for dad (and yourself) this Father's Day!
